No Sign, No Phone, Just Smashburgers: Cheeseburger Randy’s Is the Hangout Foley Didn’t Know It Needed
Tucked off South Alston Street, just a few miles from the white sands of Gulf Shores, you’ll find a burger joint so stripped down it doesn’t even have a sign. Or a phone number. Or online ordering. But what Cheeseburger Randy’s does have? Flavor. Attitude. And a line forming before the place even opens.
Cheeseburger Randy’s opened in October 2024 with a vibe that’s equal parts throwback and hipster, but in a way that makes everyone—from beach-bound tourists to longtime locals—feel like they belong.
🍔 What’s On the Menu? Not Much, and That’s the Point.
Five items. That’s it. The menu is simple on purpose:
- The Cheeseburger ($8.69): Double smashburger with American cheese, pickles, and house sauce.
- The Randy ($10.69): Same as above, but with thin slices of Conecuh sausage.
- The J.B.C-Squared ($10.69): Chopped jalapeño, bacon, and a surprise twist—cream cheese.
- Fries or Onion Rings: Or just go rogue and order the “Frings” ($5.69), a perfect mix of both.
Want to customize? Add bacon, swap in an Impossible patty, or toss on some crispy “Randy-style” onions for free. Just don’t ask for Randy—there is no Randy. The name? It’s an inside joke from owners Alex Warner and Marcus Owens that just stuck.
😎 Keepin’ It Weird, Keepin’ It Local
The dining “room” feels more like the alleyway between two buildings. There’s no marquee, no flashy sign—just a small space with big energy. “We’re not trying to be everywhere,” said Warner. “We just want to feed the community and hang out with people.”
The nostalgia is intentional. Warner and Owens have deep roots in the food scene—Warner having trained in Denver’s booming restaurant culture before returning to Baldwin County to launch Cheeseburger Randy’s. Together, they’ve built a vibe that’s casual, community-first, and unapologetically analog.

🍟 Coming Soon?
A few tweaks are on the horizon: soft serve, loaded fries, and maybe root beer floats. But Warner insists they’re not trying to grow too fast. “Keep it simple, keep it weird, keep it fun,” he says. That’s the Randy way.
